Introduction to The Lancer

by: Michael Bouchard, Chief Science Officer

The SecureAxxess Lancer takes the performance and engineering prowess demonstrated in the Military market and makes it available in a durable package for robotics applications. The Lancer is an extremely reliable and customizable mobility transportation platform that is suitable for moving heavy payloads in tight spaces over a variety of terrain. The Lancer unit is electric and emits only a slight harmonic hum when the drive motors are active. It also has an onboard charging system and is controlled via a simple USB or CAN serial bus interface.

Human-sized Performance: The Lancers base is well sized to augment or replace human power in a variety of applications. Its motors are capable of producing 2 hp continuously and can peak at 4-5 hp as neededpowerful enough to carry a human-sized payload. Models are available in a variety of battery and tire/wheel combinations and offer a range of up to 15 miles / 24 km and payload capability of up to 400 lbs / 181 kg.

Flexible Energy Source: The Lancer runs on one to four NiMH or li-ion battery packs. Each unit can be powered by any electrical energy source provided it produces 52 volts.

Real Time Video Surveillance: Each Lancer can be equipped with Real Time Video allowing images to be wirelessly transmitted to a central point or points.

The Lancer can accept the Marine Corps standard issue M240G. It delivers accuracy and can carry up to 400 rounds. The M240G can utilize amour piercing, ball, incendiary and tracer ammunition. Should the weapon fail or be damaged, it can be replaced with a standard issue weapon.

The Lancer can be equipped with the AT4 anti-tank weapon. The AT4 is one of the most common anti tank weapons in the world. It has the ability to give the infantry the means to destroy and disable armored vehicles and fortifications.

The Lancer can be equipped with a Line of Sight (LOS) and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) wireless data link. The link is used to remotely operate the unit. Some of the available features include dual band and tri-band frequency options.

What makes the SecureAxxess Lancer unique is its versatility. By utilizing change on the fly attachments, the robot can be used for reconnaissance, dirty bomb detection, transportation or take the place of an armed soldier. It can be equipped with the ability to detect radiological dispersion devices (dirty bombs) and nuclear materials. The robot is also equipped with a hazmat camera with the ability to be fully immersed after mission completion.

Real Time Video Surveillance: Each Lancer can be equipped with Real Time Video allowing images to be wirelessly transmitted to a central point or points.

Modular Capability: SecureAxxess robotic platform provides the frame work for multiple military operations; support frames for custom sensing devices (including bomb / hazardous gas detection), computing hardware, casters for statically stable operation, Reconnaissance (including infra-red imaging), or connection points for attaching multiple robotic units.

Robotic Software: Most software solutions are created by robotic manufacturers and are proprietary to their respective solutions. SecureAxxess has designed a hardware / software solution. This black-box intelligent controller is capable of handling sophisticated robotic applications to facilitate the development of military and commercial solutions. The SecureAxxes solution contains all the required hardware abstraction layers and supports a multitude of standard I/O interfaces, with a wide selection of processing power and memory featured in a sealed unit.

Custom interfaces are also available. Contact Darrell Marroncelli at 603.881.5151 for more information.
